This weekend, on Saturday February 11th, 2012; the world lost an musical icon. Whitney Elizabeth Houston was found dead at the Hilton hotel in Beverly Hills Los Angeles. Whitney was only 48 years old and the cause of death was not immediately known upon finding her. Later on in the evening the news was released that Houston had drowned in the bathtub of her hotel room and that no criminal intent was suspected. The medical response team found approximately 12 bottles of prescription pills, including Xanax. Houston was discovered when her body guards noticed she was taking an extremely long time in the bathroom while getting prepared for a pre-grammy awards party. When the bodyguards knocked on the door and received no response, they had a female hair stylist go into the room to check on her. On Thursday, February 9th 2012 during a Grammy Awards rehearsal event, it was reported that Houston smelt heavily of alcohol and that she appeared disjointed. Given her drinking problems, and the abuse of prescription pills could have led to her becoming sedated while in the bathtub causing her to drown.
